The Attic Peninsular is located in the south-east of Central Greece and is the southmost inland region of the country. Attic boasts strikingly diverse landscapes: mighty mountains together with beautiful seaside and beaches. Many historical monuments are located in this part of the country: temple of Poseidon at Cape Sounion, Marathon, ancient temple of Demeter in Eleusis.
The main city of the peninsular and the whole country is the capital of Greece – Athens, a city of ancient and glorious history. Today this metropolis is the heart of economic and cultural life in the country. Millions of travelers and tourists from all over the world come here every year to visit numerous cultural and historical monuments, the most popular of which is Acropolis. From there, one can enjoy a breathtaking view of the city: white roofs, blue sky and the sea far away. The historical center of Athens is full of places of interest, museums and archeological sights. One will never forget a walk along the narrow streets of the old town in Monastiraki and Plaka districts. Here one can taste national cuisine in a cozy little inn or buy a souvenir. The city has a lot of theatres, both winter and summer theatres in the open air, as well as cinemas. Bright city night life is in full swing in numerous bars, clubs and discos. Shopping lovers will enjoy modern malls that feature the best Greek and international brands. Speaking about the infrastructure of the city, one should mention the metro that is considered one of the most beautiful in the world. Central stations even have stands with museum exhibits.
The southern part of Athens is formed by Piraeus. It was an independent town once, but now it is considered a district of Athens. Piraeus boasts many beautiful quays with cafes, bars, restaurants and taverns that offer their guests fresh fish, seafood and excellent sea views. This district is famous for its port that is the biggest in Europe and the third biggest in the world. Every day ships leave from here to many destinations.
The most attractive district for real estate buyers are seaside ones, starting from the outskirts of the capital (Kavuri, Vouliagmeni, Varkiza) through Lagonissi and Saronida up to Lavrio. If you prefer cool forest air and landscapes, your best option is Eastern Attic. However, Western Attic is also a popular place, for example, Kinetta district that is located on the sea side and surrounded by a pine tree in the north.
