The Black beach of Hios named Mavra Volia, won the online vote of the famous Greek portal-news.gr as the most beautiful beach in Greece. 

The beach Mavra Volia is a truly unique place, it’s like no other in the world. After the explosion of the Psaronas volcano the beach was covered with black pebbles of volcanic origin.

It is known as the ''Black Coast'' is located about thirty kilometres from the city, near the village of Emboreos. The sea here is deep, with crystal clear and ice-cold water, which is fascinating because of the dark shades of black pebbles.
